Feature -Holistique Blendz by Solid Gold®
Written by Andrea
Solid Gold® has been offering high quality dog food for three
decades. Their ingredients are selected from around the world
to promote a healthful body and a harmonious internal system.
Solid Gold’s Holistique Blendz® is a formula for adult
dog food for senior and overweight dogs.
Holistique Blendz® contains lower levels of protein, fat,
and calories than many of the other Solid Gold blends. For this
reason, it is a fitting food older dogs and overweight dogs as
well as dogs with sensitive stomachs. Because of its nutritional
content is is also a wonderful food for dogs with food allergies.
Oatmeal, rye, and Menhanden fish meal make up the top three ingredients.
The oats in oatmeal contain phosphorous which is required for
brain and nerve formulation during growth. The oatmeal also helps
renew connective tissue because it is one of the richest sources
of silicon. Rye is a unique ingredient because it is a good source
of iron, magnesium, selenium, and folate. Menhanden fish meal
is made of an oily fish that is rich in calcium, iron, vitamins
A and D, and EFA’s. Along with these ingredients are salmon
oil, sesame oil, almond oil, lentils, dried seaweed meal, potatoes,
and dried pumpkin.
All of Solid Gold’s® products meet the AAFCO(Association
of American Feed Control Officials) dog and cat nutrient profiles.
Solid Gold also uses USDA meats that are free of antibiotics
and hormones. Meat by-products are never, genetically modified
grains are never used, and chicken is never used in Solid Gold’s® formula.
Soybeans, wheat, sunflower oil, and corn are also completely
avoided. These ingredients are common causes of allergies in
dogs.
Chicken is never used because arsenic is put into poultry feed
to help control parasites. In turn, the arsenic in the poultry
can cause skin, respiratory, and bladder cancers and can aid
in the development of cataracts.
